Assalamualaikum,
First and foremost, I wish to thank all former residents of our beloved kampung (village) at Kampong Glam area, especially those who have been supporting us and participated in the Hari Raya reunion in 2016 and 2019. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the committee members for their hard work and commitment in making the events successful. Alhamdulillah.
I trust that all of you, as do I, love our kampung very much. If given the opportunity I am sure we would all have chosen not to leave the kampung and became “permanent residents” – never mind the leaking roofs on heavy rainy days!
For the love of our parents, grand-parents and great-grandparents who treasured our kampung and proud of those rows of houses they called home, I am committed to keep alive the memory of our kampung-living and the silaturrahim (kinship) among us.
We have all moved on to live in different parts of Singapore, however, this site that we created especially for you can be the platform for us to engage with each other on a regular basis. We welcome your contributions to the blog page on this site. Ayuhhhh! we particularly look forward to engaging the younger generations in the hope they will discover the history of our kampung and get to know the kampung people more intimately.
Personally, I am proud and feel humbled that till this date we are still connecting with each other. In recent years I realised the relationships among the kampung people have become intimate to an extent. I hope that by initiating and creating this site it will bring us much closer. InshaAllah, I will strive to roll out initiatives where we will all have more opportunities to meet up and gather more often.
I encourage you to share with the committee any initiatives that you would like us to jump-start for mutual interests especially when it involves closing-up the generational gap.

Kampung Kita
The kampung folks you will read more about on this site consist of neighbours who once lived within the Kampung Glam area, Singapore. They lived on Pahang Street, Baghdad Street, Bussorah Street, Kandahar Street and Sultan Gate. These streets are passionately known as Kampung Dalam, Kampung Intan, Kampung Khaji, Kampung Tembaga and Pondok Jawa respectively. These kampungs were possessively referred to as kampung kita or our village by the residents there.
Till this day, those who have lived in the kampung will proudly say “itu kampung kita” or “that’s our village” when there is any mention of the area. On a lighter note they will also unashamedly claim, to whoever will listen, that the historical Masjid Sultan (Sultan Mosque) as masjid kita (our mosque). Simply put, everything that is in the area is kita punya… all ours!
Vision
Strengthening the silaturrahim (kinship) of the kampung folks and bridging the generation gap. Developing advocates to uphold the values of our forefathers.
Mission
Enhancing the warmth amongst the kampung folks through initiatives and instilling the values our forefathers have descended on us. Providing the podium for the younger generations to learn about and preserve the originality of our forefathers’ traditional delicacies.

We are proud to provide this platform for our entrepreneurs. They are the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren of our forefathers.
